**Question:** Which blender makes smooth smoothies?

**Short answer:** Vitamix Explorian E310 has the best record for smooth smoothies: 8 of 8 shoppers said theirs came out smooth, though that is a small group. Past the leader, the blenders here got mixed reports for smoothies, from 7 of 14 for Ninja Professional Plus DUO Blender down to 4 of 15 for Ninja Blast Portable Blender, the weakest record here. Shoppers often write about smoothies when something goes wrong, so low shares are common.

**What stands out:** A weak or stalling motor is the complaint that keeps coming back. It shows up in 46% of Ninja Blast Portable Blender reviews and 28% of Hamilton Beach Single-Serve Blender reviews, and 45% of Magic Bullet Personal Blender reviews say it broke or the motor burned out.

## Ranking (shoppers who said whether it worked)

| Rank | Product | Smooth | Share | Amazon |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Vitamix Explorian E310 | 8 of 8 | 100% | no |
| 2 | Ninja Professional Plus DUO Blender | 7 of 14 | 50% | no |
| 3 | Hamilton Beach Single-Serve Blender | 10 of 23 | 43% | no |
| 4 | NutriBullet Full-Size Blender Combo | 4 of 8 | 50% | no |
| 5 | Magic Bullet Personal Blender | 5 of 12 | 42% | no |
| 6 | Hamilton Beach Smoothie Blender | 4 of 13 | 31% | no |
| 7 | Ninja Blast Portable Blender | 4 of 15 | 27% | no |

Ranked by the lower bound of a 90% Wilson confidence interval, so a product needs a high share and enough reports to rank high. An Amazon link is shown only when at least 60% say it works.

## Questions

**Which blender makes smooth smoothies?**

Vitamix Explorian E310 has the best record (8 of 8), but it rests on a small group of shoppers. The other blenders got mixed reports for smoothies, from 7 of 14 for Ninja Professional Plus DUO Blender to 4 of 15 for Ninja Blast Portable Blender.

**Are personal and portable blenders good for smoothies?**

Reports were mixed. Hamilton Beach Single-Serve Blender got 10 of 23, Magic Bullet Personal Blender got 5 of 12 and Ninja Blast Portable Blender got 4 of 15. A weak or stalling motor comes up in 28% of the Hamilton Beach reviews and 46% of the Ninja Blast reviews.

**Is the Ninja Professional Plus DUO Blender good for smoothies?**

It is a toss-up. 7 of 14 said smoothies came out smooth and 20% of reviews call it powerful. 15% say it broke or the motor burned out, so check the warranty before you buy.

**How do I get a smoother smoothie?**

Put the liquid in first, then soft fruit, and add ice or frozen fruit last. Cut big pieces down, stay under the fill line in your manual and blend a little longer. If your blender stalls, stop and follow the manual before you try again.
