Where these numbers come from

The 7 products ranked here carry 1,811 reviews at Target. We read the newest reviews of each product (up to a thousand per listing), kept the ones that talk about dryness, and counted up to 40 per product, posted between Sep 2020 and Oct 2026.

A review counts only when the reviewer used the product themselves. We drop reviews written in exchange for a free product or a sweepstakes entry (11 on this page), and products that are no longer sold.

Target also shows reviews first posted on brands' own websites. We show them on product cards but never count them, because brand-site reviews run more positive than store reviews of the same products.

Because we searched for the problem, people who had it are overrepresented. Compare products with each other rather than reading a share as your own odds.

Skin type, skin tone and age splits use what reviewers chose on Sephora's review form (and age on Ulta's when given). We only show a split when enough reviewers fall on each side.

Amazon buttons appear only on products that most reviewers here say fix the problem (at least 60%, with enough reviews to trust it). Everything else gets no buy link.

An AI model labels each review against a fixed list of points, and we spot-check the labels before publishing. We publish counts, never the reviews themselves.

Questions buyers ask

Which body oil is good for dry skin?

Palmer's Coconut Oil Body Oil has the best record (33 of 34), followed by Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Body Oil (29 of 30). Tree Hut Tropic Glow Body Oil and Saltair Nourishing Body Oil had no failures, but fewer shoppers weighed in on them.

Is the Vaseline Glazed Glisten a regular body oil?

No, it is a shimmering gel oil, so it leaves shimmer on the skin. 13 of 14 shoppers said it left dry skin soft or moisturized, and 13% call it greasy or oily.

Do body oils feel greasy?

Some do. 20% of Palmer's Coconut reviews say it isn't greasy, 13% of Vaseline reviews call it greasy or oily, and so do 5% of Palmer's Cocoa Butter reviews. Feel varies from oil to oil.

Does scent matter when choosing a body oil?

Shoppers bring it up a lot. 78% of Tree Hut reviews praise the scent, but 21% of Byoma reviews, 15% of Palmer's Cocoa Butter reviews and 16% of eos reviews call the smell bad. If you are picky about fragrance, that is worth weighing.

HiveTried earns a commission when you buy through the "See price & reviews on Amazon" buttons. It never changes the ranking: the order comes from buyer reports only, and a product gets an Amazon button only when buyers here say it works.
