Updated . How we count

Did it irritate or break out sensitive skin? What shoppers said

Share of reviewers who stated an outcome for skin reactions. Ranked by the lower bound of a 90% confidence interval, so a product needs both a good share and enough reports to rank high.

What stands out

Stinging or irritation stands out at one spray: 43% of Charlotte Tilbury reviews mention it, against 10% of Urban Decay Vitamin C reviews and 6% of Milk Makeup reviews. Those shares count all of each spray's reviews, not just shoppers who stated a result.

Where these numbers come from

The 7 products ranked here carry 38,652 reviews at Ulta and Sephora. We searched them for skin reactions and read the newest matching reviews, up to 40 per product and store, posted between Jan 2021 and Oct 2026.

A review counts only when the reviewer used the product themselves. We drop reviews written in exchange for a free product or a sweepstakes entry (0 on this page), and products that are no longer sold.

Ulta also shows reviews first posted on brands' own websites. They run much more positive than store reviews of the same products (across 19 products with both, 76% of brand-site reviewers said the product solved the problem, against 55% of Ulta shoppers), so we show them on product cards but never count them.

Because we searched for the problem, people who had it are overrepresented. Compare products with each other rather than reading a share as your own odds.

Skin type, skin tone and age splits use what reviewers chose on Sephora's review form (and age on Ulta's when given). We only show a split when enough reviewers fall on each side.

Amazon buttons appear only on products that most reviewers here say fix the problem (at least 60%, with enough reviews to trust it). Everything else gets no buy link.

An AI model labels each review against a fixed list of points, and we spot-check the labels before publishing. We publish counts, never the reviews themselves.

Questions buyers ask

Which setting spray works for sensitive skin?

Benefit POREfessional Super Setter has the best record (20 of 22), followed by Fenty Beauty You Mist Setting Spray (15 of 17) and Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Dewy Setting Spray (18 of 22). The first four records run from 91% down to 81%.

How do I try a new setting spray if my skin is sensitive?

Skin reacts differently, so patch test a new product first. Spray a little on a small area, such as along your jaw, and wait a day before using it on your whole face. Stop using anything that stings, itches or turns red, and see a dermatologist if a reaction doesn't settle. The records here are what other shoppers with sensitive skin reported, not a promise for your skin.

How does Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray do for sensitive skin?

Poorly next to the rest of the list. It has the weakest record here at 11 of 30, and across all 42 of its reviews, 43% mention stinging or irritation. These are shopper reports, not a medical fact about the spray.

Which of these setting sprays can I buy on Amazon?

Four have official Amazon listings, sold by the brand or by Amazon itself: Urban Decay All Nighter Vitamin C Setting Spray (17 of 21), Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray (23 of 32), NYX Face Glue Setting Spray (10 of 16) and Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray (11 of 30). Urban Decay All Nighter Vitamin C Setting Spray is the best pick sold on Amazon. Benefit POREfessional Super Setter is sold there by a third-party seller. We could not confirm an Amazon listing for Fenty Beauty You Mist Setting Spray or Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Dewy Setting Spray.

HiveTried earns a commission when you buy through the "See price & reviews on Amazon" buttons. It never changes the ranking: the order comes from buyer reports only, and a product gets an Amazon button only when buyers here say it works.
