Where these numbers come from

The 6 products ranked here carry 2,595 reviews at Target. We read the newest reviews of each product (up to a thousand per listing), kept the ones that talk about hard water rings, and counted up to 40 per product, posted between Apr 2015 and Aug 2026.

A review counts only when the reviewer used the product themselves. We drop reviews written in exchange for a free product or a sweepstakes entry (0 on this page), and products that are no longer sold.

Target also shows reviews first posted on brands' own websites. We show them on product cards but never count them, because brand-site reviews run more positive than store reviews of the same products.

Because we searched for the problem, people who had it are overrepresented. Compare products with each other rather than reading a share as your own odds.

We count what shoppers report. Nothing here is safety advice: use heaters, fans and other appliances as the maker's manual says.

Amazon buttons appear only on products that most shoppers here say fix the problem (at least 60%, with enough reviews to trust it). Everything else gets no buy link.

An AI model labels each review against a fixed list of points, and we spot-check the labels before publishing. We publish counts, never the reviews themselves.

Questions buyers ask

What removes hard water rings in a toilet?

Clorox Ultra Clean Bleach Toilet Tablets have the best record (34 of 35), and they go in the tank. Among cleaners you put on the bowl yourself, Method Toilet Bowl Cleaner (27 of 30) and Clorox Clinging Bleach Gel Bowl Cleaner (29 of 33) come next.

Should I use an in-tank tablet or a bowl cleaner?

They do different jobs. In-tank tablets and drop-ins, like Clorox Ultra Clean Bleach Toilet Tablets and Scrubbing Bubbles Continuous Clean Drop-Ins, release cleaner with each flush to keep the bowl clean between scrubs. Bowl cleaners, like Method Toilet Bowl Cleaner and Clorox Clinging Bleach Gel Bowl Cleaner, go right on the ring and you brush it off. Some toilet makers warn that in-tank cleaners can wear out tank parts, so check your toilet's manual first.

Can I mix toilet cleaners?

No. Never mix bleach with ammonia, vinegar or other cleaners, and don't add another bowl cleaner while a bleach tablet is in the tank. Open a window or run the fan while you clean. Strong fumes come up in 18% of Clorox Ultra Clean Bleach Toilet Tablets reviews.

Do blue toilet tablets stain?

Some shoppers say so. 35% of Clorox Ultra Clean Bleach & Blue Toilet Tablets reviews complain the tablets made a mess in the tank or stained the bowl, and they have the weakest record here at 4 of 18.
