Updated . How we count

Did it cover the red? What shoppers with redness said

Share of reviewers who stated an outcome for redness showing through. Ranked by the lower bound of a 90% confidence interval, so a product needs both a good share and enough reports to rank high.

What stands out

Blending is where the leader pulls ahead: 41% of Bobbi Brown reviews say it blends easily, against 23% of Urban Decay, 17% of MAKE UP FOR EVER and 10% of IT Cosmetics reviews.

Where these numbers come from

The 5 products ranked here carry 9,397 reviews at Ulta and Sephora. We searched them for redness showing through and read the newest matching reviews, up to 40 per product and store, posted between May 2018 and Sep 2026.

A review counts only when the reviewer used the product themselves. We drop reviews written in exchange for a free product or a sweepstakes entry (0 on this page), and products that are no longer sold.

Ulta also shows reviews first posted on brands' own websites. They run much more positive than store reviews of the same products (across 19 products with both, 76% of brand-site reviewers said the product solved the problem, against 55% of Ulta shoppers), so we show them on product cards but never count them.

Because we searched for the problem, people who had it are overrepresented. Compare products with each other rather than reading a share as your own odds.

Skin type, skin tone and age splits use what reviewers chose on Sephora's review form (and age on Ulta's when given). We only show a split when enough reviewers fall on each side.

Amazon buttons appear only on products that most reviewers here say fix the problem (at least 60%, with enough reviews to trust it). Everything else gets no buy link.

An AI model labels each review against a fixed list of points, and we spot-check the labels before publishing. We publish counts, never the reviews themselves.

Questions buyers ask

Which color corrector covers redness?

Bobbi Brown Long-Wearing Color Corrector Stick has the best record (24 of 24), followed by IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Correcting Cream (23 of 26) and MAKE UP FOR EVER Step 1 Primer Redness Corrector (22 of 25). Bubble Secret Agent Redness Fix Balm has the weakest record at 5 of 8.

Should I choose a stick, cream or fluid corrector for redness?

The list has one product of each kind, so it compares products more than kinds. The stick (Bobbi Brown Long-Wearing Color Corrector Stick) has the best record at 24 of 24, ahead of the cream at 23 of 26, the primer-style corrector at 22 of 25, the fluid at 19 of 24 and the balm at 5 of 8.

Does a color corrector get rid of redness?

No. Makeup covers redness but doesn't treat it, and the records here are what shoppers said about how well each corrector covered theirs. See a dermatologist about redness that burns, stings, spreads or doesn't settle.

Which of these color correctors are sold on Amazon?

Bobbi Brown Long-Wearing Color Corrector Stick, IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Correcting Cream and Bubble Secret Agent Redness Fix Balm have official Amazon listings, sold by the brand or by Amazon itself, but we link just the first two because the record for Bubble Secret Agent Redness Fix Balm is too thin for us to recommend it. Bobbi Brown Long-Wearing Color Corrector Stick is the best pick sold on Amazon at 24 of 24, and it is also the leader. For MAKE UP FOR EVER Step 1 Primer Redness Corrector and Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid, we could not confirm an Amazon listing.

HiveTried earns a commission when you buy through the "See price & reviews on Amazon" buttons. It never changes the ranking: the order comes from buyer reports only, and a product gets an Amazon button only when buyers here say it works.
