Where these numbers come from

The 4 products ranked here carry 521 reviews at Target. We read the newest reviews of each product (up to a thousand per listing), kept the ones that talk about accuracy, and counted up to 40 per product, posted between Feb 2009 and Sep 2026.

A review counts only when the reviewer used the product themselves. We drop reviews written in exchange for a free product or a sweepstakes entry (0 on this page), and products that are no longer sold.

Target also shows reviews first posted on brands' own websites. We show them on product cards but never count them, because brand-site reviews run more positive than store reviews of the same products.

Because we searched for the problem, people who had it are overrepresented. Compare products with each other rather than reading a share as your own odds.

We count what shoppers report. Nothing here is safety advice: use heaters, fans and other appliances as the maker's manual says.

Amazon buttons appear only on products that most shoppers here say fix the problem (at least 60%, with enough reviews to trust it). Everything else gets no buy link.

An AI model labels each review against a fixed list of points, and we spot-check the labels before publishing. We publish counts, never the reviews themselves.

Questions buyers ask

Which kitchen scale is accurate?

OXO Good Grips 5 lb Food Scale has the best record (12 of 12), but it rests on a small group. Taylor Glass Platform Digital Food Scale is next at 19 of 23, with more shoppers weighing in.

How can I check if my kitchen scale is accurate?

Weigh something with a known weight, like an unopened package with the weight printed on it, and see if the scale matches. Weigh it a few times in a row: readings that keep changing are the drift shoppers complain about here. Set the scale on a flat, hard counter and swap in fresh batteries first.

Are Taylor glass kitchen scales accurate?

It depends on the model. Taylor Black Glass Top Food Scale has the weakest record here at 11 of 30, and 28% of its reviews say the readings drift. Taylor Glass Platform Digital Food Scale, a different Taylor model, did much better at 19 of 23.

Does a kitchen scale need a tare button?

Shoppers say it helps: 29% of reviews for Taylor Glass Platform Digital Food Scale and 22% for OXO Good Grips 5 lb Food Scale praise it. Tare zeroes out the bowl so the scale counts just what you add.

HiveTried earns a commission when you buy through the "See price & reviews on Amazon" buttons. It never changes the ranking: the order comes from buyer reports only, and a product gets an Amazon button only when buyers here say it works.
